'11 Audi RS5, Lipstick Red, Cat C

Had a bit of a bump! Needs a new bonnet, front bumper, and driver side wing. Airbags also deployed.

Everything else is perfect, still runs smooth and no structural issues.

Demo Spec (so every option), and 56k on the clock. Based in Birmingham... Let me know if any interest!

ainarssems 26th September 2014 06:42 PM

I very doubt there is no structural damage if airbags have deployed

evo 27th September 2014 09:08 AM

Doubt if you will, but has been inspected and so it has been said! Either way, anyone is welcome to view it and check for themselves, or bring the RAC etc...

roberto 27th September 2014 08:46 PM

pics and price please

evo 30th September 2014 10:21 AM

Don't know how to post pics here, if you could PM me your email address and I can send them now to you. Price is open to offers

The_Laird 30th September 2014 10:47 AM

To post pics, go the 'Go Advanced' and scroll down to 'Manage Attachments'. Click that and then browse for your photos on your computer. When you've added all that you want to add, click 'Upload'. Once the photos have uploaded, post the thread as usual.

Simples! :)

tonupkid 30th September 2014 08:41 PM

You appear to have a car that you are attempting to sell here. Yet there is no link to an advert and failing that there are no pictures and there is no price.
So I'll start the bidding - £1.00. Any advances on that?

PsYcHe 30th September 2014 09:26 PM

£1.50

M-A8 30th September 2014 09:45 PM

£1.51

sarg 1st October 2014 02:15 AM

£1.51 & 1/2p

The_Laird 1st October 2014 06:58 AM

I'm not going to bid on this, but I also have something for sale. I won't tell you what it is or provide any photos. Any interest?

Seriously Evo, if you want to sell something, provide some useful information!

IT 1st October 2014 08:14 AM

Slightly back on track (I know, Im usually the one going off at tangents)

The fact that the airbags have deployed doesnt concern me, however, which ones have deployed is very telling. If they had a passenger in, the dash bag may have gone, and thats a pita to replace. Roof / Side airbags would indicate far more than a front end 'bump' and cost loads more to repair too.

The Cat C however is more of a concern. Cat D is fair enough, couldnt be bothered to fix it, but Cat C is basically the insurance company saying this isn't economically viable to fix (at Audi prices admittedly)

Given that it allegedly only needs a bonnet, bumper, wing and 'airbags' something really doesnt add up. For example, are both headlights really 'Perfect' I ask myself for example ?

Ex demonstrators are very rarely kitted out with 'every option'. The dealer usually cherry picks a few desirable options and/or something they dont have on show elsewhere. They like us have budgets, and ticking every box doesnt make the car very saleable as it gets too expensive to retail.

Also, personally, I'm not convinced 'lipstick red' is a valid Audi colour, or to me, desirable in the slightest.... ;)

So, appologies if any of the responses on this thread come across negative, but really the description is vague enough to be contradictory, and without some photos to reference the truth I just can't see anyone being seriously interested unless its actually offered up with a price that is bargainous....

You do have a captive audience on this thread now however, so get some photos up and you may grab some serious interest +++

evo 1st October 2014 03:01 PM

Lol I know it is vague and I fully accept that, I admit its a half arsed attempt at selling!! I just have had very little time and this comes at a time when I've got a lot of other stuff on. Wouldn't mind people coming over to see it etc and inspect, would make my life simpler haha! If i don't get rid of it to a couple interested people over the next week you have my word I'll be back here with a more in depth advert.

To be totally honest, from what I've learnt - the insurance putting it as a Cat C has totally ****ed up any resale value even if I have it repaired. So when I get some time I'll look at what to do properly. For those who gave me their email address by PM I'm sending the email to you guys now with the pics. Feel free to add to the thread if you guys know how but I actually can't upload... it keeps giving me "error: upload time limit exceeded"

evo 1st October 2014 03:03 PM

Also yes, all airbags have gone off by the way - passenger dashboard, steering wheel, and the two curtains. And when I said lights are perfect, I meant they're not smashed entirely, and still operate - likely will probably need to be replaced - it's just weirdly receded backwards and the bonnet has bore the brunt of the smash. If that makes any more sense lol

It's not a cheap job to fix everything if anyone is assuming that lol

tonupkid 1st October 2014 06:50 PM

So I take it that my (new bid) of £1.69 wins, or not.
You could of course have uploaded the pictures to DropBox, Gdrive et al.
And evidently you can type letters, so how about a £ symbol followed by some numbers.

This is heading for the top of weird threads of 2014

roberto 2nd October 2014 07:51 AM

he has sent me pics..

LOL at that headlight only "probably needing replaced".

sarg 2nd October 2014 11:10 AM

There must surely be structural damage to the offside front chassis rails?

And yeah, it definitely needs at least one new headlight, plus a couple more minor parts

evo 2nd October 2014 11:48 AM

Just "minor" repairs! :P

Thanks Roberto for uploading :)

Adrian E 2nd October 2014 01:02 PM

It'll need jigging for sure to get the offside chassis rail back where it should be, plus all the panel work to suit. Probably engine out to repair properly and paint under the bonnet as well as new panels

Not horrendous in repair terms but defo not a home job with some bolt on parts either

If it was unrecorded it might be worth doing but with cat c knocking up to a 3rd off its retail value it'll need to be very cheap. Replacing all those airbags, dash and trim is going to cost thousands. Definitely worth taking pics as the job progresses so buyer/potential future owner can see what was required

It may be easier long term to break for spares?

sarg 2nd October 2014 01:44 PM

Some may remember my Boxster was recorded Cat D - it knocked more like 50% off the value, not 1/3rd

evo 2nd October 2014 01:52 PM

Yeah I understand it's not a home fix. Fully understand recorded cat C knocks it down the pricing, but I'm unsure what the price should be really.

Don't mind if its sold for scrap either, but I don't really have the time to break and sell the parts myself

IT 2nd October 2014 01:57 PM

Passenger airbag has taken out the windscreen too, so add that to the list.

If its cat C, I'd start to think the front wheel has been pushed back taken some suspension with it. The rest doesnt look too bad. Still, a Cat C label for life wont do it any futhers.

If you just want shut of it, give A8parts a call. They may well take it off your hands if you have some figure in mind..... +++

Lyons 6th October 2014 10:39 AM

If you're stripping it, PM me a price for the steering wheel.
