New Steering Wheel Buttons & Paddles

After reading M-A8's thread about his Dilemma (http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showthread.php?t=8794) and wanting to add a little bit more chrome to cabin, I decided to go the same sort of route has he did.

Adding the chrome buttons and chrome paddles.

Chatting to M-A8, some research and searching we was able to locate a set of paddles with the correct plug and fitting, also some buttons.

Steering wheel before.

the metal paddles feel so much better than the plastic ones.

Going to be cold during the winter though.

What paddles did you go for?

ScottD3 24th October 2014 11:33 AM

A set of OEM chrome units that M-A8 found for me.

Lyons 24th October 2014 11:38 AM

You don't know the part number per chance? There's a couple of different versions.

ScottD3 24th October 2014 11:48 AM

I don't sorry.
When I put it all together I thought I should have taken down the part numbers for others.

M-A8 24th October 2014 03:59 PM

4E0 951 527 AB (left)
4E0 951 527 AC (right)

You have to use the very specific part number, especially last two letters.
There is plenty of combinations but ONLY these 2 PNs are for aluminium paddle shifters which fit D3.

So AB AC is the aluminium finish, any other combination is not.

Paddles also may look the same, but they do also have different connectors and mounting bases. Connector can be swapped but base can not be swapped and it wont fit the wheel

Cheers. I'm looking at a wheel from an S4/S5 which has the paddles fitted so mounting shouldn't be an issue, just the connectors.

Are they easily changed? What are the differences?

M-A8 24th October 2014 04:46 PM

No idea mate and I thought the same and now I have a incompatible set of paddles for sale
But eventually I got it right.
Some bases look almost identical, but when it comes to fitting they are not, then there is different layout of internals so even keeping old base and swapping just the paddles wont work, I went through all that mate.

Connector, internals, base, 3 different things between various paddles

For future reference the paddles on the S4/5 and RS5 are the same part number.
