Help with interior trim colour

I'm trying to find out what colour trim my s8 has so i can order some new car mats. The code on the Service Book is wrong: it comes up as Aqua and it's definitely not blue.

The best way to describe it - and a way that everybody can check in their own car - is the leather is nearly the same shade as the plastic on the dash; a very dark grey.

Any thoughts on what this might be called?

Thanks?

PErhaps the seats have been changed etc, put up a photo as i used to own and Aqua interior so can see why some would have changed it :) Platinum grey is the most likely i would think..

Platinum is not dark. ;) What year is it, PF or FL?

Have a look at our sponsors advice: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/The-Audi-Pa...r-Audi-A8.html

Finally, take up the front main carpets, they "should" have a label on them.

Interior hasn't been changed, i'm certain of that as there's a comprehensive history with the car. Only one owner from new so they would have chosen the right colour from the start, you'd hope.

FL: Registered June 2002 but not FE.

Thanks for link - my money is on Swing or Pearl.

Remember the carpets only came in a limited number of colours anyway, so probably just "dark grey" (Swing).

Is it me, or does anyone else thing 'swing' is a strange name for a colour?

Pic of interior. Any suggestions?

Looks very similar to the S8 I viewed yesterday - Adrian suggested it was Swing Grey based on the code?

Nice! Definitely too dark for Platinum, but looks great.

It does come out lighter in photos which makes it look like Titanium but it is quite a dark grey. I'm 99% certain it's Swing/Pearl.

Just for info, here's a picture of my PF Platinum leather/alcantara seats with FL Swing Grey armrests, which are somewhat darker.

Phil303 22nd February 2015 07:04 PM

Not convinced it's Swing - look at the contrast.

Maybe Pearl

If your seatbelt is the same colour have a look at the label at the bottom of the B pillar on each side - it has the colour code or at the very least a full part number that relates to a colour code :)

Post here and can ID from that potentially

We had Swing in our A6 and it basically looks very dark grey, verging on black

Phil303 22nd February 2015 10:17 PM

Will check seat belts in the morning. I can see from Architex's photo how dark-almost-black Swing is, and it's not that.

I'm thinking Pearl as a) it's the only other option that's closest and b) the leather does have a slight pearlescent sheen to it. It's not a flat colour and it's more than just shiny leather.

HPsauce 23rd February 2015 08:01 AM

I thought you were after mats, but we have no pictures including your carpet?

Phil303 23rd February 2015 11:35 AM

Good point, I got distracted by trying to decipher the incorrect spec sheet interior code.

Pic of dirty mat attached. I've circled the areas that show the truer colour, rather than the trampled grubby area that has come out lighter.

HPsauce 23rd February 2015 12:53 PM

And any helpful labels on the back of the overmats or the main foam-backed carpet sections?

Phil303 23rd February 2015 02:35 PM

Well I never. The mats say Aqua as well but there isn't a hint of blue on any part of the interior. What shade should Aqua be?

Ive got to say, that looking at your photos, to me the leather does look as light bluey as it does grey.

Its too dark for Platinum, and too light for swing.

It really seams plausible it is Aqua.

The other 'blue' was 'blues' and that was a very dark, almost black blue which was again very rare....

HPsauce 23rd February 2015 05:50 PM

Yup, Aqua (WG) as confirmed by the 40F suffix on the label.

I bow to your knowledge but any way I look at the seats I'm struggling to see how the colour corresponds to the name, even if it is correct. Odd choice of descriptor but at least the build sheet is correct after all.

Whatever it is, it goes really well with the Dolphin Grey.

Is Aqua an uncommon colour?

Yes, but not necessarily in a bad way... +++

Phil303 24th February 2015 09:05 AM

Not at all, I think it's a great choice - well done to the original and previous owner, a man of discerning taste.

I like it even more now I know the inside is in an uncommon colour like the outside.

Certainly wouldn't have called it Aqua though.

IT 24th February 2015 09:08 AM

At least it has a hint of blue about it. There is some sense.

Jive / Swing / Soul leave a bit more to the imagination +++

Phil303 2nd April 2015 04:36 PM

Now we have sunny weather and bright days, I can now see that the interior does have a blue tinge to it, so Aqua it most definitely is.
