D2 FE for sale

Sadly the time has come for me to sell my D2. Here's a quick rundown: It has 73k, 2 owners, FSH, and is a Final Edition spec car. Within the last few thousand miles it has had fitted a full INA cambelt kit inc water pump & poly V belt, oil service, new Pagid discs all round, with Ferodo Premier pads. It recently had all 5x wheels professionally refurbished with 4x new tyres (Khumo Ecsta Sports).. and I also fitted 4x genuine centre caps.

It drives beautifully, with no knocks or bangs, and the condition is a credit to it's former keeper. The gearbox is silky smooth.

The car will be going on Ebay tonight with a reserve, but I thought I'd give you guys a heads up first as I'd rather it go to an enthusiast than a dealer!

Known issues - every car has some; It has a chip on the screen but it's not in the swept area therefore not an MOT failure. One of the parking sensors sometimes plays up - not sure which one - but they are cheap enough to replace. there are some very small scuffs to the bumpers - photos attached. Also the knob for the passenger side seat height adjustment is missing.

I'm looking for £6k for a quick sale. I'm working away a lot, so if the car hasn't gone by Monday then the sale will be on hold for around 3 mths. Viewing recommended. Please bring insurance or cash if you wish to drive it. Please call Mike on 07795103934

That seems like a fair price. Lovely car, clean interior and good luck with the sale +++

Sir WIll 25th March 2015 11:46 AM

Indeed, looks like a good one to me +++

The_Laird 25th March 2015 12:05 PM

Aaargh! Like Dave McB, I can't see file shar photos on my computer at work, so I'll have to wait to see this one. :(

Cornershop 25th March 2015 12:24 PM

Looks great in the pics :)

Maybe worth detailing the history too, although the pics would probably sell it alone.

Full Audi history until 60k, then a specialist oil service at 70k. I only have the service book plus the pdi sheet. I don't have any service sheets. The car was owned by Professor John Rex Beddington - the government's chief scientific advisor, and it was serviced at Stratford Audi, the dealership where it was originally sold. No indication that the gearbox or gearbox oil has been changed.

That's where tax payer money went :tuttut: ?! Lovely car aside, GLWS.

Interior colour

Very nice indeed …what's the FE interior leather colour?

notorious 25th March 2015 07:47 PM

One word: beauty.

Duffy 25th March 2015 09:54 PM

Lovely!

Must be silver grey: same colour combo as mine by the looks of it.

barzya8 26th March 2015 11:51 AM

Great car. If I was in the market, but 6K is way outside my budget.
Love it though. One day.

The_Laird 26th March 2015 12:03 PM

For a low mileage, 2 owner genuine FE, in a 'non-marmite' colour combination, with a decent service history, I think that's a good price. I'd buy it in a second if I didn't have its twin already!

Then spend £150 or so on a proper gearbox flush and filter and you've got a 'keeper'.

 Naturally you would think that the price was right Jim! But I do agree anyway. Its a lot of good car with low mileage. Best of luck with the sale. +++

Mikey-S 27th March 2015 08:36 AM

For work reasons the car will not turn a wheel for 3-4mths, and I'd rather it didn't sit there gathering dust, therefore the price is negotiable within reason. But, as previously said this has to go by Monday at the latest.

Mikey-S 27th March 2015 06:15 PM

Gents, I have made a boo boo. I am as genuine as they come and not once did I set out to mislead anyone. The car was sold to me by a neighbour of Prof. John Rex Beddington. It was advertised as a 1 owner car. When I went to view the car, the seller produced 2x logbooks. He told me the first 'owner' was the company called 'ZincDraw Ltd' - which is the company owned by John Rex Beddington. He therefore 'considered' it as a 1 owner car.

Like a numpty I had completely forgotten about this, and I had it in my head that it is a 1 owner car! For anyone interested I can produce all three logbooks; Mine, Prof John Rex Beddington, and ZincDraw.

I just Googled this, and the Beddington family does have some involvement in Zincdraw so I do believe the sellers story, however I just wanted to clarify the fact that the car does have 3 owners instead of 2.

brasiliangringo 27th March 2015 09:14 PM

I don't think it needs an explanation - the link is obvious. Doesn't change the credibility of how the advert reads.

Mikey-S 31st March 2015 09:05 AM

Thanks to the guys who made decent offers, shame the logistics of the sale/collection couldn't be resolved. Not so much thanks to the chancers who made ridiculously low offers, obviously thinking I'm desperate to sell! The car is now under wraps until June/July when it will be on the market again.

Mikey-S 6th June 2015 07:07 AM

This will be available again around the 1st July. Please message me if you would like to view the car. When it was for sale a few months ago I had two solid offers of £5200 which I did decide to accept, but due to bad timing and logistics the car never went, then I had to leave for work. One thing I've been pondering - is it worth me getting a gearbox service (Chester Transmissions) even though there's no faults with the gearbox, and is it worth me getting the minor bumper scuffs professionally painted prior to the sale, then up the price to cover the costs?

Adrian E 6th June 2015 09:27 AM

Hi Mike

If it's never had a gearbox service then I would certainly do that and run the car about a bit to make sure all is well - you'll definitely get the cost of that job back in piece of mind for the new owner.

Paint bits - I'd be tempted to advertise 'warts and all' (not that there's much there!) as some prospective owners may not be worried if they intend to park in the street or put miles on the car. Those who are might prefer to have their own 'paint man' do the job.

I guess it's a balance of hassle vs potential reward? A Pistonheads ad would probably be a good idea if you want to aim at the higher end of the value range, as you're more likely to find a buyer.

I would certainly expect you to better the offers you had previously selling at this time of year

HPsauce 6th June 2015 09:33 AM

Yes, I'd agree with Adrian on that as a gearbox fluid change can be "kill or cure".

If I was paying good money for such a car I'd like to see evidence that had been done and the car used significantly afterwards to confirm it was still OK.
If it's not done and fully bedded in it's a big risk that a well-informed new owner would (should) use to negotiate.

I'd probably also agree with him on the paintwork, unless you're selling at a real premium - usually just commercial sellers.

Did you mention a missing seat button? I'd DEFINITELY fix things like that before sale. ;)

Mikey-S 6th June 2015 09:55 AM

Thanks for the input gents. Yes I agree, the gearbox service is definitely on the cards especially as it doesn't cost an awful lot. I'm confident this won't harm the gearbox in any way as it really is silky smooth and faultless. As for the seat switch, I've been looking for one of those for a while, but I'm struggling to find one, in the correct colour of course!

Did you try the forum sponsors? The colour combo is the same as mine and , although the leather is 'silver grey', I think the seat bas and switches might be the more common 'platinum'.

I am so tempted to buy this 'twin' car, but SWMBO might kill me! ;)

Mikey-S 6th June 2015 06:23 PM

I haven't contacted them direct no, I'll call them when I get back home.

Mikey-S 3rd July 2015 07:16 AM

I'm back home now. The car has been fully valeted, and will have a fresh 12mths mot as of Monday. I have a genuine engine oil and filter here, so I may as well do that over the weekend. Viewing welcome from Tuesday onwards.

Mikey-S 7th July 2015 11:37 PM

Sold

Norretal 8th July 2015 06:44 AM

Congratulations, hopefully a forum member bought it? And if that's not the case you told the buyer all about this forum? +++

The car went to a true enthusiast, it couldn't have gone to a better home and I'm really happy about that. I was truly sad to see it being driven away, one of the few cars to have that affect on me. Sorry guys but I didn't mention this forum to him!

...

No worries, it's not obligatory. I'm sure he'll find us...

Adrian E 8th July 2015 10:16 AM

Which advert did it sell through, out of interest?

It got posted in the bargain barge thread on pistonheads a few days ago so I bigged it up for you :)

It went through Pistonheads. First time I had advertised a car there, and had a huge response. Could have sold it 10x over, at a higher price. Have you got a link to the 'bargain barge' thread?

Adrian E 8th July 2015 01:16 PM
