S8 d2 prices?

how much £ it could set me off good fsh backed up late 2002 final edition S8 with under 100k mileage?

Adrian E 10th April 2015 07:43 PM

Anything from £6k upwards for a really good one, depending on how far below 100k miles, history, spec and condition :D

No is the short answer.

The final editions (or special editions) were a specific combination of paint and leather colours, and black on black wasn't one of them.

A lot of D2 S8s are advertised incorrectly as Final Editions as many people think they're just late 2002 cars.

I'll post the link the the definitive thread on this in a moment, although even this has some minor inaccuracies: http://www.tyresmoke.net/forum/topic...final-edition/

Anything at the bottom end is either a Billy Bargain, or more likely the history doesn't stack up/is missing/requires major expense to get it as it should be.

The black on black one looked nice and is probably priced about right for 80k miles, but there was nothing in the advert to suggest the gearbox had been serviced.....

benza 12th April 2015 09:27 AM

Had enquiry on that one and seller said gearbox been serviced at 56k miles with fluid and filter change, cambelt done at 76k miles costing £1806 and all receipt with fsh records to prove. If thats the case someone got good one but with premium price i suppose. ..

Adrian E 12th April 2015 10:22 AM

The problem is if you buy one at £4k that's a bit rough round the edges you could easily spend £3k getting it sorted.

The recommissioning service on mine, before I bought it, came to £2.5k (service, cambelt, front discs and pads, various little jobs), plus an exhaust £1k, ICE update £3k+, set of 4 tyres and a wheel refurb.....

benza 13th April 2015 03:33 PM

Yes good thing ain't cheap and cheap things ain't good... search continues

Adrian E 13th April 2015 06:11 PM

This certainly isn't the cheapest but if the history/condition stack up.....

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifie...-miles/3970079

Base spec for an S8 by the looks of it, but since most things can be retrofitted :D

tintin 13th April 2015 08:15 PM

Pricey, but I like the plate very much..+++

Goran 14th April 2015 11:09 AM

Plate not included, unfortunately :(

I didn't spot the Ronin reference in it till someone else did on Pistonheads bargain barge thread lol

I can't recall it being on here before, from the sale last time, but I haven't attempted to search the spotted thread to see if it is there

Yep like that indeed mileage is so low but no 20" no xenons no solar .... which probably another £3k retrofiting .... regreting now not going forward with £6k 81k miles one on pistoheads

Was just about to jump of my seat and then i saw interior http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item...d=221743491523 very interesting i shall say ... but £4k for 150k miler isn't that just a little crazy?

Adrian E 14th April 2015 08:46 PM

Was half that price when it sold privately last week on ebay....

tonupkid 14th April 2015 10:39 PM

Now that's an FE interior. Go see it. They always look surprisingly good in the flesh.
Interestingly Adrian says it was cheaper last week on eBay. The lesson being, cheap can be good. Don't pass up on cars that seem too cheap. Not every seller is savvy. Or sometimes they just want a quick, clean, not fuss sale.
Be an optimist if you want a happy outcome.

My FE is just coming up for 150K on the clock, and there's no way I'd let it go for £4K. If it's been looked after (and that includes gearbox services), it might be a good car.

benza 15th April 2015 09:03 AM

Thanks chaps for reassurances, will need to think harder

Phil303 15th April 2015 07:46 PM

For reference in Feb last year I paid a touch over £5000 for a June 2002 registered S8, 109K mile, 1 owner from new, FSH, from a small trader working from home, dealing in dealer-supplied trade-in cars. Not a Final Edition and no extra options but a desirable colour inside and out and impeccable history, so I was happy at that price.
