Service Indicator Reset D2 Facelift

I'm not sure if this has been covered exactly in another thread, but I only found D3 references on how to reset without VCDS.
I was being lazy and couldn't be bothered to get the VCDS laptop out. :o

I found multiple versions online, this is the one that worked for me (2003 D2 S8): http://forums.quattroworld.com/a8/msgs/50085.phtml
You might need 3 hands though if the steering lock is latched tightly.:tuttut:

1. - Hold in the "000.0" button (trip-odometer reset, on far right of instrument cluster) WHILE turning the key to ignition.

2. - Release button and leave ignition key on.

3. - Push the "Check" button on the far left of instrument cluster.

4. - You should see a message saying "Next Service 10,000 Miles".

Though mine said 9300 miles.... maybe because it's been nagging for a while?

They always default to 9300 with vcds too - it just doesn't go down for a while!

Mine was done today :)

That's because the car is German and fixed service interval is 15 000km =9320 miles
