Engine Stalling
Hi Guys,
Can anyone please throw any light on the following problem. Engine idles at 780 to 800 RPMs No fluctuation When it gets up to temperature whilst revs remain constant, it just cuts out. It did this for 4 or 5 times in succession. It starts again immediately with no problem. It also has a tendancy to do this when slowing down for either a roundabout or junction. Carried out a scan which showed no faults on the engine. I checked the MAF and found this to be completely clean. Also thought it might be dirty fuel, so went out and put BP 98 in the tank. Still it cuts out, when left running on tickover. It does not do it all the time, sometimes it runs fine Could this be a blocked fuel filter or something else. Thanks, David:Confused: |
IT posted a thread some time ago about common faults and one of them sounds similar to your problem. The thread is here:

Problem Solved.
It turned out to be the engine idle module, right at the back of the engine on the top under the main cover plate Unpluged it, removed the three nuts holding it on and cleaned the whole thing with carb cleaner and put it back. Not had the stalling again since and engine runs much smoother now.:D Hope this helps anyone else experiencing this problem. Not sure if this needs to go onto the sticky common faults. David |
Good to hear it was a easy and free fix. Good reminder for all of us to check idle module and throttle bodies for excessive gunk.
