ABS + EPC + Traction Control Lights = ?
On the way back from the coast this evening everything was fine right up until a brisk acceleration from a roundabout.
Shortly after I noticed the ABS light on along with the EPC light and Traction Control light. Everything felt fine until the next roundabout which is when I realised I had no acceleration. For example foot to floor made no difference. It got up to cruising speed okay (70-80mph) but by being gentle with the throttle. The gear change was fine btw, no lights of doom from the gear selection on the dash. Any thoughts? |
I'd turn it off and turn it on again and see if it went back to normal, may well do.
Then, whatever happens, get VCDS plugged in to see what errors have been logged. Sounds like possibly an iffy/dirty ABS sensor or wiring. Might be a one-off, might not. |
if you need a VCDS scan, im just down the road and have the full kit. any time before noon or after 3:30 (F1 is on!) :)

That's very generous! PM me your address/mobile and I'll pop down before 12. Thank you.

all sorted :)
I'll PM you the log file. good luck with the other thing, and also your ebay search ;) |
What if anything, did it show that was relevant?
|
It was an error regarding oneof the two throttle position sensors. The car was fine today so I cleared the code and we will see if it comes back. Phil also saw my rns-e retrofit, which he liked. He's now scouring eBay lol :)

Intriguing. Did you run the calibration process as well?
Though I think Adrian_E posted that if you just turn the ignition on and don't touch the pedals and leave it a few seconds without starting it does that automagically. |
Yeah, cheers Andy, I appreciate your help and relived that it repaired itself.
I didn't realise the relative ease with which the RNS-E can be fitted; that's definitely on the cards. Did you look into the gearbox differences any further? |
to be honest i have been too busy swearing at my DAB install to look at your gearbox thing. but i shall this evening :)
