Stalling problem

Hi
Hoping someone can solve this?
When i have air conditioning turned off the engine stalls no end of times and can be quite disconcerting as the steering is really heavy. Connected a laptop to diagnose but no problems shown up for the engine or gearbox, had taken the A8 for a gearbox service but they refused saying i should sort the stalling out first. As soon as i switch air con on the fault disappears. I have been told that when you switch air con off the revs drop 2 to 300 on tick over. Surely this cannot be correct and must be some kind of fault.

So, leave the aircon on - its hot afterall +++

Seriously, it doesnt sound right - But give us some more details - What year is the car, what engine / spec etc ?

Some of the earlier PF 4.2 D2 cars are known to have breather pipes that fail, causing poor idling, and potentially without the A/C to raise the RPM it may stall....

Stalling

Hi
The car is a 1997 2.8ltr, S line full spec ie Traction control, full leather with memory, 145000mls, gearbox centre will not service the box until engine fault is sorted.

Mot sure exactly where it is on the 2.8, but check for slack in the throttle cable too, there should be an adjustment on the throttle body, may help, but then again, may not.
