Getting there..i think

Well,,,after just having new rear discs, pads, callipers,,,oil pressure switch, drive shaft/gearbox seal..non closing glove box..
I now have a few more problems that im hoping with your guys knowledge i can sort the problem out

1.i get a slight knock on the left front susspension.....???? not bad just anoying

2..sometimes i get a groanong coming from the steering when you turn the wheel checked the fluids and they seem the right level

3..Sometimes the ABS light comes on ....

4..Sometimes the brake light comes on ..checked the pads and they have loads left

1 - Could be the link arm (c-shaped bracketty thing), or control arms.

2 - Check the filter in the fluid reservoir and make sure it's clean. I had a similar problem and cleaning the filter made it go away.

3 - Probably a dirty sensor, pop it out and clean it

4 - Probably a stretched wire in the sensors, if it does it when turning the wheel or going over a bump, then it's more liekly the wire. Fix details are on audipages.com.

Well i tried to get the sensors out and there in solid....any ideas...(pop it out)..nearly broke a finger trying to get it out..

Looked at the front discs and there a little coroded on the inside face...plenty of pad

Corroded disk on the inside sounds suspicious... Should be nice and clean there, I'd get someone to work the brake pedal while you look at the caliper, could be sticking.

The sensor it a bit tight to get out, a couple of light taps with a hammer to loosen any rust, then grab (carefully) with some big pliers or mole grips and see if you can get it to move.

I need to buy some new front discs and pads/.....mine is a 98 (S) reg 4.2 quattro sport.....do they have 8 small pads instead of 4 large ones.....
and also where can i get some..euro parts..£56.00 for 2..and £55.00 for pads...is that good

U need the 8 small pads. Might be a good time to try and upgrade; otherwise europarts or GSF would do them.

well..ive just had new discs and pads on the 8 and i also had to bite the bullit and have a new front drivers side wheel sensor...the frightening thing is seeing your 17 year old trainee mechanic son taking my baby for a test drive as he works at this garage....also amazed to see him plug the diagnostics Pc thingy into the connection point under the front ash tray and reset the ABS light......

Brought my first A8 4.2 quattro sport when I was 17 and it survived about 11k unscathed with me! :D
