thanks muchly , best to change the whole assembly , don't know if the 22a part is available seaparately anyway , probably bonded in |
problem !
isn't that the rear axle ? to be precise I am looking for the OSF of A8Q 2000 with AQG engine although I think all D2's are the same |
Yes it's front suspension, bush 22a should be able from dealers but not sure if anybody does aftermarket. When you include the cost of labour it's probably best to change the whole arm as ball joint on the other end could fail soon as well.

I'd actually advise changing all 4 upper arms while you're getting it done - alignment will need doing whether it's 1 or 4 and if 1 has gone, 1 of the others will soon follow.
I'm running Meyle HD arms on those 4 and happy with them - total cost for the 4 when I bought mine was about £160, albeit 3 years ago now The bushes go due to being stretched by the power steering on full lock - I've still got original arms on the rest of the car! |
thanks guys
problem I am having is that , on the website I use , the OE audi part numbers they say is being replaced don't tie up with the diagram ; also it appears to quote different part numbers for the same thing....4DO and 8DO with different suffixes , the 4DO's don't have a model number , the 8DO's appear to have an engine code adrian , can you remember the Meyle part numbers that you used ? the diagram refers to only rear uppers [ same both sides ] which suggests that there are front uppers as well with a different part number ! so I would need 2 x 2 parts to change all the uppers ? seems I need a response in words of one syllable ! must be the fact that there are 76 different items on the list that I have |
Meyle HD parts for front suspension:
Front arms same both sides: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Meyle-HD-F...item54184700e8 Rear arms Left:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Meyle-HD-F...item51ca351878 Right: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Meyle-HD-F...item54184707b2 |
This was my experience at the time:
http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showthrea...ighlight=meyle The web site I ordered from is no longer functional, and I wouldn't recommend them anyway given the slow delivery of the parts. http://www.allgermanparts.co.uk/ would be worth a try, and you can check part numbers here: http://www.meyle.com/en/spare-parts/search.html and it'll take the Audi part numbers. I doubt they vary for these arms - the main ones that change are the chunky lower ones, depending on model and wheel size. Fortunately I never throw any paperwork away relating to the car! You should need a pair of 1160508239/HD (these are for the front upper and aren't handed, hence a pair needed) One each of 1160508292/HD AND 1160508293/HD (rear uppers are handed) The part number differences stem from the fact that VW/Audi use the same basic suspension configuration across many, many models. There's very few parts that are unique to the '8, fortunately. Just make sure you get the HD ones, as I think they do non-HD as well. |
thanks both
careful checking shows the numbers as from adrian's post are correct for my machine , but the rears used by ains are different now to source them ...would be easier with the audi part numbers as many only show equivilent to them |
