MMI question

When we go to hidden menu SET UP + RETURN button
It does gives few option
My question is :
After update
Section SW DATE - should it be the date when last update took place?
Mine says 2008 and some 2005
Yesterday I had it in the garage and was assured that mmi was updated
Was I scammed?

What's the software version displayed? It could be that the firmware they've installed dates to 2008. It wouldn't be unusual as Audi very quickly stop producing updates once replacement hardware has been around for a while

The 'Red Hidden Menu' shows the details of all the components connected to the MOST optical BUS. The 'Control Head' aka "InterfaceBox" is the heart of the Bus [which is a continuous loop] and I believe is always addressed as 0x100.

As you scroll down the list and press the MMI button, more detail is shown for the selected component. Without knowing the Audi 'secrets' for the MMI component's code, the date shown is embedded in the code and probably reflects the date it was written or 'put live' by Audi.

Thus the dates will never reflect the date that the MMI was updated; they just reflect the date of the code installed in the devices, either at manufacture or by MMI update.

For comparison; these are the hardware level / firmware level / date values for the MMI components in my 2005 car that's been updated to the last level - 5570 [which dates from 2008].

Gateway H07 0070 23/07/2003
Telefon H36 0770 03/06/2005
DSP-Amp-High H13 0460 18/07/2005
CD Changer H44 0470 04/08/2005
TV Tuner H13 0300 13/11/2006
Radio H41 0630 30/11/2007
AMI H20 0850 05/02/2008
NavBox H43 1060 13/08/2008
Control Head H43 5570 27/08/2008

Quite a few of these were finalised in the early life of the car and look like they were 'a long time ago'.
