Lowering D3 using VCDS coding
Was curious to see how the S8 would look a little lower so I connected it up to my laptop...34-Level control...Coding then changed the 'xxx55xx' to 'xxx11xx' pressed 'Do it' and nothing has really happened.
I went for a short drive and turned the car off and on a couple of times expecting the car to lower at some point but nothing... Am I missing something or have I done something incorrectly? |
Once you've changed the coding you need to do the adaptation on each corner which involves measuring the existing height and inputting slightly altered versions. There are plenty of guides on the web.

Of course, thanks.
I tried adaptation just now, put all the correct measurements in then went to channel 05 and got a red error... http://i66.tinypic.com/35b6own.jpg However, the car does have a suspension malfunction according to VCDS as follows: ------------------------------- Address 34: Level Control Labels: 4E0-910-553.lbl Part No SW: 4E0 910 553 L HW: 4E0 907 553 H Component: LUFTFDR.-CDC H07 6340 Coding: 0011110 Shop #: WSC 02313 785 00200 VCID: 2C5172EB8F89E57E17F-8079 1 Fault Found: 01772 - Signal from Level Control Pressure Sensor (G291) 008 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent Freeze Frame: Fault Status: 00101000 Fault Priority: 3 Fault Frequency: 1 Reset counter: 60 Mileage: 166737 km Time Indication: 0 Date: 2016.01.13 Time: 22:25:28 ---------------------------------- Would this throw a spanner in the works?? |
I believe that the code you have there can be the compressor taking to long to get to desired pressure , had the same code on an Audi all road few years back , a new piston ring kit on the air compressor got rid of the code .

Sounds like you may need the bagpiping andy kit from eBay. I've just replaced the seals in mine but didn't have issues, did it more proactively before any issues cropped up as they seem to start causing issues at 100k miles plus +++
By the way bagpiping andy can also offer brand new cylinders now as well if the current one is damaged Link for the video on fitting the kit - http://www.bagpipingandy.com/installation.html |
If you plan is to have lower on permanent basis, I would go for the Lowering kit :)

I've worn off on you lol.
Get the links mate, there so easy to do. |
cringing at the though of it
|
Ah yes, forgot about that guy who does the 'bagpipe' kits, I'll buy one of them to renew the parts anyway. I bought one for my first D3 when the suspension was getting a bit tired on that.
And I'm not going to "slam it to the weeds" in the word of Edd China, just was curious to see what a drop of 15mm or so would look like and probably wouldn't be permanent. |
Well because I couldn't complete the VCDS lowering process (you must fully complete adaptation), I've got the orange suspension warning light and the adaptive function of the headlights and cornering lights aren't working -__-
Got the new kit from bagpipingandy coming tomorrow so hopefully this will fix it and I'll be able to complete the adaptation! |
