Battery Clamp

Hey guys, I recently had a garage replace my old battery with a genuine VAG one. As to be expected they somehow messed it up. Battery has been coded to the car etc so all good there. However it seems to be sitting a little loose on its resting place. The bolt goes thru the retainer however i can't seem to be able to tighten it down securely. Take a look at some pictures..Is there something missing below the slot where the clamp goes?

Many thanks

So they just place the bolt back in the hole knowing it wasn't going to do up????

I'd expect it to have a captive nut in that hole, not 100% sure how it's done in a D3

Think your missing an M8 rivet nut.

Part number N 90864102

You need a special tool normally to spread them out so the stay fastened but you can make do with a bolt washer and nut and tighten the nut down on the inserted bolt and washer to squash the nut.

I not really good at explaining things like this but its easy once you have seen how they work.

Its like an overgrown pop rivet but with threads through the middle.

Yep, you are missing a captive nut- happened to me too.

The tricky thing is that it isnt a rivnut, but knurled, so the hole is bigger than a normal M8 rivnut. For mine, i ended up fitting an M10 ally rivnut and drilled out the other parts to fit the larger bolt.

Smack a piece of hard wood on the whole and use a wood screw +++

Looks like it was fused to the plate from below so your gonna have to get creative like already mentioned and fit a bigger rivnut
