D2 to D3 owner...
sold my 2001 4.2 A8 last week for a 4.2TDi 2006.
the D2 was one of the best cars i have owned, never put a foot wrong in 2 years. the D3 is in another league. interior is well planed and the engine is really powerful. i need advice on a couple of things please. 1) the suspension even in comfort mode is harsh and skittish on rough roads. i just read the thread re. hard reset and driving in sport mode for 10+miles.. will try that 2) are you meant to feel a small amount of diesel vibration at idle( i had a petrol prior) 3) would you do a gearbox oil change, its currently 100k 4) the gear shifts, although smooth, are odd. possibly adapted for previous owner. is there an easy way to reset many thanks raj |
I've not read the thread you mention in number 1. Do you have a link?
I think most will recommend a fluid and filter change for the gearbox, personally I cannot justify the cost. (It's not like an engine oil and filter change) |
1. Check the front suspension links, there are many and the rubber deteriorates through use and time. It shouldn't feel skittish.
2. Diesel will never be as smooth as petrol but the vibration should not be excessive. 3. Yes change the gearbox fluid and filter, 100k is well overdue even though they are "supposedly" sealed for life. 4. I don't know |
thanks for the replys.
then link to Q1: http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showthread.php?t=11086 will get the car booked in for gear oils/reset.....may also ask them to reset suspension at the same time. cheers raj |
