Retrofitting bluetooth
Hi guys.
I'm looking into retrofitting bluetooth for hands free. The car currently doesn't have any form of bluetooth or car phone. Pressing the phone button on the MMI just says phone not installed. No handset cradle or anything fitted. Has anyone on here ever done this? I can only find info on upgrading the bluetooth, not fitting it from scratch. Cheers. |
The good thing with these cars is that it is very easy to install things with the MOST system.
For installing the Bluetooth from scratch, I would do the following: 1, check under the passenger side carpet for the box where the phone module is usually installed to see if there is any wiring there. 2. If there is wiring there, simple retrofit the Bluetooth unit there according to the instructions for upgrading. Then code the Bluetooth phone to work using VCDS. 3. If the wiring isn't there, you will have to retrofit a microphone in the roof console, you will have to send the 6 wires the Bluetooth needs to the box under the passenger side carpet and you will have to get a MOST optic cable adapter to go down to that spot also. Then you can install the Bluetooth as required. If no. 3 is required, download the factory wiring diagrams and retrofit the wires to exactly what the diagram states. Then it will all work as OEM. Kufatec do the wiring retrofit kit as well.

Believe I might've posted this in the wrong forum area! :o
Well progress has been made, I've started looking around for parts and updated the MMI software from 770 to 5570 in one jump with no component protection kicking in. Tomorrow I'll have a look to see if I have any wiring for it. If the wiring isn't present, I'll leave it alone. I HATE doing wiring with a passion! Thanks for the help guys! |
