Gearbox - Hard Shifts
 

There are two common problems with hard shifts on the D3.

1 - Hard shifts down (mostly on the V8 diesels that I've seen) (4th to 3rd, 3rd to 2nd)

This is usually fixed by a swap to 'blue' gearbox fluid and a new ECU map. Should be done FOC as it's a known issue, so press the garage.

2 - Hard shift up

I had this in my D3, after a couple of reports sent to Audi, they came back and told the garage to update the firmware and so far, it's been smooth, but they do say it needs 1500 miles to be sure that it's working properly.

cheers... on point #1, do you have a TSB or something factual to back this up before I can engage with a stealer?

FYI... I drive 4.2TDI and have been experiencing it recently. I checked with Audi UK and there are no outstanding recalls on the car nor the g/b oil was ever done on it so... something to think about and add to my 'to do' list :Confused:.
