D3 S8 top speed limiter?

Had a nice little road trip over to the Continent this weekend taking in multiple countries and while doing so came across a beautiful straight stretch of road in an undisclosed country within driving distance of Calais.

I thought it would be rude to not see what the S8 could do as of course there is no chance of trying it in the UK. It reached the 155mph limiter without breaking a sweat, I backed off for a few miles then remembered reading something written in the manual about only being able to achieve the actual top speed if in Sport mode. So tried again in 'S' and it seemed even quicker and more urgent. I'm sure I remember doing something in VCDS once which should enable the speed limiter to be removed but can't remember what that was

Definitely the perfect car for crossing countries and cruising motorways for miles on end!

I chickened out at 157 in mine (using the GPS speed reading) and there was no evidence of a limiter kicking in.

I remember testing my old D2 S8. I got to 145mph pretty quick and booted it and it dropped a gear and lerched. I backed off pretty quickly as I didn't feel that my reflexes were up to it as things just move so much more quickly and an accident would be so much more fatal....

I hit the limiter in mine at 262kmh indicated on the digital read out between the speedo and the rev counter (switched over to metric when I took it over - mostly just because I could).

The car was still pulling enough to notice the loss of push.
