Coincidence or not?
 

I upgraded my MMI to 5570 last night using instructions from the web (it was on 5150 before).
Only needed the 3rd CD - the 1st 2 said there was nothing to update.

Started the car immediately afterwards and straight away my electronic parking brake warning light came on with the inoperative message. It wasn't on before the update!

Is this pure coincidence or could the update have altered a setting somewhere?

When I apply the parking brake I can hear the motors at the back for a second or so.

havent heard that one before, does it still work or not?

have you got vcds, try to erase the warning and see if it comes back

It does seem to work in that if I don't apply it, the car rolls slightly on an incline until the parking gear locks in. With it on, it doesn't roll.

When I apply or release the parking brake I can feel the brake pedal move slightly (it did this before the MMI update and warning light).

is the warning also a long tone that stays on for what seems like forever then goes away until next ignition switch on

No! there is a dong when I start it up (after a couple of seconds) when the warning comes up. The warning stays on all the time I am driving but the dong is very brief. Make sense?
