D2 A8 on Top Gear!
IIRC it was YE02 OTL a FL 2.8 Quattro, driven by Sabine with Tom Kitchen cooking in the back. +++

I'm glad they didn't ruin it like turn it into a space shuttle or a tank or something ridiculous. Looked like quite a nice one possibly with Vossen wheels??
Sort of reminded me of a little road trip to France I had with a friend last year with me in my blue S8 and him in a carnival red XJ Sport  http://i67.tinypic.com/9rhu0m.jpg |
Looks like Vossen cv4 wheels (sames as mine :) ), however caps dont look genuine, so could be copies
|
Thanks for the wheel ID - I rather liked those!
I was watching with my house mate and she couldn't believe I'd spotted it just from the rear corner when they were putting up the Aston lap time :D A bit lame that the Ring Queen was driving a 2.8, but I'm really enjoying this new series. |
You are not alone, I spotted the rear 9" in the corner of the screen and immediately knew what it was!

I must admit I got excited at the site of an FL 8.....I was a bit disapointed in the it being 2.8 A8 Quattro though. Also the leather looked a bit long in the tooth which makes me think high mileage. The wheels made it look a bit more impressive but i'd have been happy with 18's rather than 20's on a 2.8 and i've heard the quattro is a bit redundant in terms of power, economy and general need.
I think she could have gotten a better 8 for that money As for the show, the first was ropey, but it's getting better and Evans (the weak point) is growing in not needing to be Clarkson which the first show suffered from. |
Having seen (and disliked) show #1 and watched and enjoyed (relatively) #4 I might now catch up on #2 and #3 sometime.
I did see a trailer for #4 and very briefly caught a tiny glimpse of A8 (rear light) and Chris Harris (who was only in the online "extra" initially) so decided to watch it. |
Yay, I feel quite chuffed that my D2 is now Sabine approved, however she really did get lumbered with the least pokey D2 ever built - 2.8, Quattro, Auto....
Possibly the 2.5 Tdi was less refined, but probably still went quicker... +++ Anyway, Good show, enjoyed it. Glad they didn't trash the D2 although a slightly more original example would have been nice with standard wheels etc. I think I saw aftermarket front PDC also on there too but forgiven as I'm sure I saw at least £200 of front grills :D |
I thought the blue footwell lights were hilarious!
I really did like the wheels though. |
On this week's Top Gear they are comparing an old Rolls Royce Corniche to a new version, but critically to those of us who drove around Ireland recently they are testing them in Dingle and the Dingle Peninsula, so some of the roads should prove familiar! That explains why somebody asked us if we were "from Top Gear" when they saw a group of 5 A8's together :D
Should be on at 8pm tonight (Sunday 26th June) and repeated a couple of times through the week |
All times are GMT. The time now is 03:13 PM. |
