Rs6 steeringwheel

Hello!
I wanna switch out my steeringwheel with tiptronic buttons to a Rs6 C5 with paddles instead, out of My mind I feel it would be a fairly bolt-on deal with minor electrical differences, am i wrong?

Anyone done this procedure?

Cheers!

Its been done, and afaik it is fairly simple - someone mentioned it recently I think. I'm about to do the same with a TT wheel, as I think that is pretty much the same as the RS6 one, just without the perforated leather.

Pretty simple swap if you already have a tiptronic wheel..

We did it for Oli on his D2 years ago, which was more complicated as the factory steering wheel was multifunction, but not tiptronic.

If you have tiptronic, then like the paddle wheel there is a simply ground + change up/down and illumination, 4 wire config that runs through the slip ring. Straight swap.

But, if you have only multifunction, or multifunction as well as tiptronic, then the whole wheel is wired with a data bus to the multifunction steering wheel control module, and then from there to the gearbox ecu and media/phone modules.. So quite a bit more work to sort, and possibly a new slip ring to accommodate the extra wires. Not rocket science though.

I cant see why a TT series 1 wheel wouldn't work just as easily...

Hmm the TT one has the multifunction module in it but only for the paddles so I guess its not going to be quite plug and play. I'll have to look at extracting the wiring from the S8 wheel and hook it up to the TT one.

Okay, good information, thanks!

I have this steeringwheel today, and i guess it means its a straight forward swap then? :)
