disks all round
Thanks to Marcin for recommending a local VW specialist in Harrow who just serviced the beast. Highly recommend these guys. Anyhow they have picked up few items that need attention. Crucial is I need disks n pads all round!:( also they said I need the front upper rear control arms too.
Now here is the question. I am bit brass at mo as I need to go holiday as promised to the missus etc. Anyone recommend decent decent brakes that won't break the bank:Confused: Also I see it needs VCDS input when changing them. My car is the 4.2tdi so if anyone can send any links etc for decent parts then all good. NB: any mobile mechanics who is willing to do these tasks??? thanks alot |
You need the PR codes such as 1LL and 1KW to know which disks and pads are needed as it depends, even for what appears the same model. These codes are in the service book sticker and wheel well sticker.
For price vs. quality I will get Mintex Disks and EBC Ultimax 2.0 Pads. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/182117949580 |
Brakes
Thanks buddy, the guys who did the service recommended Brembo. Any thoughts?

I put brembo disks and pads on the Wife's X5. Got them pretty cheap from Euro Car Parts on one of their 'really rare' sales :)

I used these rear discs 2 x http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Au...b16984c&000027 + CODE DISCOUNT15 these front pads http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EBC-FRONT-...:X:EAC:GB:3160 these rear pads http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUDI-A8-Qu...IAAOSwxN5WbYZs and front discs in the previous post. I have found the pads excellent but the front Mintex discs are not coated with grey paint which is a shame. |
Cheers matey, spoke to marcin he is looking at some Zimmerman ones for me too. Just for my knowledge what are the disk sizes?
