Will D3 Gas Struts fit on a D2?
 

Have been browsing through the sponsors new site and came across some interesting items. One I've thought about is replacing my existing rust coloured boot gas struts with shiny chrome ones. The question is, will the chrome gas struts from a D3 fit a D2, or are they completely different sizes?

Ooooh! Now there's an idea. Mine are rusty too. Perhaps you should order some, fit them and then let us know! ;)

They are bound by all the rules of motor manufacturer's design policy NOT to fit - just. Perhaps some kind D3 owner will measure them and post photos of the end fittings?

My thoughts exactly! I'd been thinking about doing this for ages, but every single chrome strut I could find on eBay was a different size.

I know Neil has both a D2 and a D3. Maybe if he's not sitting in a car park waiting for someone, he could try changing his over :D

just phoned Karl at PMS and he says that the chrome D3 struts will not fit a D2... :-(
He thinks the end fittings are the same/similar but its the length which is an issue.

Just get some shiny new struts for a D2 :)

I bought a pair recently and they came with chome fittings at the body end and look rather splendid, albeit the body colour is definitely black.

They may be able to do something custom for you?

The current ones still work fine. Was just looking to add some 'bling'.

Made enquiries before from a couple of places about getting chromed ones, but no one could give me a price. I'm sure SGS was one of them.

I bought mine from SGS too, but they're little bit more 'bling' than the ones illustrated on their web site.

Having checked a pic of mine, they're exactly the same :)

The SGS ones are nice - but not full chrome bodied like the D3 :(
