Center Consul control unit

Hi Guys,
My center consul menu control unit on my 2002 D2 S8 is not working at all. There is no display on the dash at all.
Is there a separate fuse for this unit and if so does anyone know where it is located.?
If there is no separate fuse for this unit, has anyone else had this problem.
Many thanks
David

IIRC, there's a switch that can be knocked accidentally to turn it off. Memory is straining here, so I hope someone else comes along soon, but perhaps on one of the stalks on the steering column? If all else fails, have a look at the hand book! :)

Just checked on mine. If the gear selector display is still on, but nothing else in the DIS, then it is the switch. It's underneath the windscreen wiper stalk and it toggles through a couple of different displays and a blank screen.

Many thanks for your reply.
It's not the display on the dash, which is controlled by the switch on the wiper arm. This is working as it should.
I cannot get anything to come up on the DIS from the menu control unit which sits in the center consul, in front of the front drink holder.
Adrian had a look at this for me as we wanted to change the date, below the clock on my car, as it is reading 3.4.1999. You need to scroll though the menu, to do this.
I believe, from the hand book that this unit controls all sorts of operations including, set date, service reminder, distance to next service, resetting service indicator, radio info can be switched on or off, navigation and much more.

As there is no life in it at all, as it doesn't come on, my initial thoughts are fuses. I will check fuse box next but just needed to know if there is a fuse for this particular piece of equipment.???
Thanks

Ah, sorry, my mistake. I take it that you've pushed the menu button in before scrolling? Mine's just gone off for new track rod ends, so can't check the handbook for fuses.

Yes, at first I couldn't make that work either, you have to press it down (once) to activate the menus and again choose options. Twist to move selection.

Yeah, we tried all that - the menu button does nothing. Might be worth removing the unit to check for power at the plug? If I had to guess it might be fused via the instrument cluster, so unlikely to be that. If it's simple-ish to remove its probably worth just trying another unit before investigating too deeply, as it may just be a dead microswitch?

Hi Guys,
Great news.
Took the center consul apart slightly today to reveal the menu control unit.
Surprise, surprise, it was not plugged in for some reason.
Not only was it not plugged in, the the cable and plug were nowhere to be seen. After 30 mins or so looking for it and talking with David Schofield of D S Autoworks, Crawley I was now at a loss.
David said bring it over and I will have a look.
An hour later, and the center consul in pieces we eventually found the cable and plug tucked away in thetunnel carpet, for some reason
After plugging in and it coming to life, SUCCESS. Now all working as it should.
Many thanks to David for his endeavors. I would recommend him to any other forum members in the South.
Just for the record, David is also a forum member with his own D2 S8

I thought it could only be something really simple like that - any thoughts from David on your one touch window issue on the driver's door?

barzya8 16th August 2016 05:36 PM

He looked at it today. Only checked the switch though which proved to be okay as he swapped them over.
He thinks it may be the winder motor and has suggested I get a replacement second hand one from our sponsors.
He is going to check on his computer system as to what is beneath the door card, as he has not done one of these before.
He is also going to let me have the part number for the motor to ensure I get the right one.
Date on dash board now reading correct. Happy Days++++++
