It's the associated quote that goes with this that is the most interesting:

"The A8 doesn’t have quite the same premium brand image as its competitors, and it’s slightly less visually appealing according to the trade" :-(

Which translates as: If you're pretentious and you base your car choices primarily on what others will think of you, buy something else +++

I like the fact A8s are prestigious but without the label.

Yup - a very big part of the appeal for me is that the '8 isn't as ostentatious as an S class or BMW 7 series. I much prefer the stealth approach ;)
