Driver's door clicks when opening

This has started to annoy me quite a bit of late. The complex checkstrap thingy in the D3 has started clicking a bit.

Before I attack it, has anyone had this issue before and fixed it?

Ive got this issue but not fixed it, so following with interest - is this linked to the soft close as mine isnt working on this door?

I've not got soft close, so mine isn't related. Really hoping someone has a fix up their sleeve...

does it do it all the time or only sometimes? mine seems to do it intermittently
