D3 reception/heated screen issue.
 

Hi all.

Got an issue with the sound system/heated screen on my 07 A8. General reception, be it FM or DAB isn't great where I live and drive to work, so this problem is most likely exaggerated.

FM reception is fine on the BBC channels but anything local, there is always a faint staticy noise. Whenever I press the heated screen button I just get pure static. I was thinking about retrofitting DAB anyway so I did. Works ok although again, reception is just 'ok'. When I press the heated screen button, the radio just goes completely.

Reading through forums, there is plenty of talk of it (especially on other marques) but rarely a solution. A few people have replaced the screen (usually under warranty) but I can't see much about the specifics of my problem. I can't see any duff elements although I'm sure that's the problem - I just wouldn't mind a second option before I fork out for a screen replacement.
