V12 Beauty

Saw this in Budleigh Salterton a few days back when down south. Had a chat with the owner (the guy in the shades just behind the car) and he was really interesting. He knew Ian Callum (the Jag designer from 1999 but not the designer of the E-type!) who gave the talk a few weeks back in Glasgow. This Series 3 V12 beauty was immaculate and had been fully restored inside and out. The sound through the 4-port exhaust was just sublime. Turned a few heads I tell you. +++

Gorgeous!

Is that phone holder screwed to the dash though?

Give me that mark one any day!
The sound of the 3.8's in those is how every L6 should sound!

GAWJUS.

Who doesn't love an E Type, the earlier the better.

Gwen used to drive her brothers, one of the early silver ones. Still moans about the long nose, car's not hers.
Strange thing was that the radio aerial was prone to football damage, probably replaced five times during it's time in ownership.

Am I the only person in the world that think these things are plain fugly ?

Probably not the only one, but certainly in the minority :D.
I think they lost their appeal a bit with the larger, heavier build and bigger headlights of the mark 3.
Mark 1 and 2 were much more attractive to my eyes, and only in cabriolet.

As a beautifully restored classic, I think they're a lovely sight, but I've never been a huge fan of the shape either. If I were to choose a classic of a similar vintage, I'd much prefer a DS.
