Open Wide......
Some time ago I had a brain wave that closing the technical threads from public view would cause a surge in registrations from people wanting info, which in turn would naturally lead to more active members as once registered, posting becomes easy.
Well, that was a flop really. All that happened is we ended up with a zillion registrations from users who had no intention of contributing ever. And of course, a trickle of folks who have become regulars +++ But they would have joined regardless I don't doubt. A second disadvantage to this is that we've dropped off the googlebot map somewhat. Google can no longer trawl our tech pages, and thus even our own google search doesn't work anymore. And finally, I, like many other are member of a number of Audi Facebook groups, which are great to while away a social spare moment, but as the forum was locked down it wasn't possible to helpfully post a link directly to a tech solution on here, in answer to a problem (where that facebook group admin allows such cross posting) - And facebook is awful for finding historic posts and advice, hence why the same questions are asked over and over again on groups +++ So, I've re-opened all the D2/D3/D4 technical sections publically for all to see regardless of registration status. I have no objection to any external linking to anything on here, providing it doesn't meet any objections from group owners. I'm also keep to encourage other 'premium' Audi marques into the forum, so brownie points on offer if we can start to get a few regular A6/Q7/RS owners with some high spec version on board. +++ |
Nice - soooo that's why google didn't work!
Thanks again for running the forum. It's so easy to take it for granted. |

Was in the market for a D2 S8 when I registered but ended up buying my B6 S4 avant. I again have the itch & am finding myself on here again most days checking the classifieds. Sorry I have completely gone off piste here but just to echo the sentiments thus far, your doing a stellar job which is appreciated. +++ Kev |
Thanks for the positive feedback guys +++
