Xenon Plus / Xenon - 50/50 pics

Have been bored S8 wise lately with nothing to do on it, everything is just so perfect. I'm almost disappointed when the VAG COM scan shows it has no faults

So I decided to see what I prefer, Xenon plus headlights or standard Xenon lights as they do look a lot different.

I used to prefer the standard Xenon ones before as I thought the Plus ones looked a bit like they weren't Xenons when not switched on if you know what I mean, usually you can see the bulbs through the covers on standard xenons. But now I think the non Bi Xenons don't look as highly speccd.

I haven't screwed it in properly but enough to give you an idea. which do you reckon look better? Also what is Bi Xenon about the Bi Xenons, is it the main beam or the sidelights that are the second Xenon?

Its the main beam that is the bi-xenon bit. The normal dipped headlight mechanically lifts up in order to give you a xenon full beam, where the normal xenons use a regular Halogen for the main beam and flash. The Bi-xenons have a seperate halogen bulb that is used only for flash, hence the wiring is quite a bit different between the two....

I share your opinion that the normal xenons do actually look more 'xenony' in most peoples eyes, and to the uneducated they might not appreciate the bi-xenon as much, but when you're bombing down a B road in the the pitch black, the bi-xenon will look best from the drivers seat +++

I could never quite see the tint due to being blinded by the fogs!!! :p

That reminds me James, I need to send my lights to you for the tints sometime.

Ah, I see. Well I really like Xenon plus lights now. Can't wait to try them on a country lane one day when I get a set sorted.

Is it a case of a straight swap if you have xenon and want to upgrade to bi-xenon?
