What's even more fun, and I don't know if they do it any more, is driving along a road in the far NW of Scotland to find it has just been shut for the next 6 hours while the forestry commission spray chemicals from planes over a wide area and wait for it to settle/disperse before the route is safe.
Choices are wait or do a 100-mile plus detour.
In that bit of the world you never let your tank get below 50% if at all possible. Tricky in an S8 though.
At least down on the A82 there are a few places on those detours to fuel up. Massive Tesco in Inverness for starters.
