01435 - Brake Pressure Sensor 1 (G201)
This error came up today when I ran a VCDS scan, but with no extra wording to specify the type of fault (Ross-Tech have 3 variants but this was "vanilla" which they don't include). It did have the additional "35-10 Intermittent" comment.
Now I do recall the other day a single yellow warning light came on when I started the car, but I was only moving it a short distance and everything seemed normal so I didn't look at it closely. The light didn't come on again on any subsequent start so I'm not 100% sure what it was, probably the ESP warning on its own. Though whenever I've seen that in the past it's usually combined with something else. I think this was shortly after I'd been testing the brake light switch, so operating the pedal in unusual ways. Could that have logged something to upset it or should I be looking for something potentially failing? I've cleared the fault to see if it returns. Another thing I also noticed today was an example of the "sluggishness" when moving off. As commonly seen before it was after stopping at a T-junction after gentle continuous braking, holding on the footbrake then pulling out into a main road. As ever a "twitch" of the right foot resumed normal operation. But I'll comment on that in its own thread. Ross-Tech does suggest that the 3 variants of this code (No or Incorrect Basic Setting / Adaptation, Electrical Fault in Circuit, Implausible Signal) can be linked to the brake pedal switch, so I'm hoping it's just a side-effect of my testing. If it isn't where is the G201 sensor, is it integrated into the ABS block or separate? |
It's inside ABS unit.
I had one of those codes for A6, don't remember which. In my case it was sticking master cylinder not fully releasing. Sometimes if would stick for a bit and release but on 2 occasions it was not releasing, brakes were dragging a bit so calipers heated up as fluid was heating up and pressure building it was braking more and creating more heat and so on until could not even move in 1st gear. 1st time it released after cooling down for 45 min, second time I had flare nut wrench and brake fluid with me just in case so released pressure undoing pipes by ABS unit, topped up brake fluid and was on my way. It was about 2 or 3 months between occasions. I had already bough new master cylinder in that time but had not changed it yet. I changed it next day after it happened second time. Has been fine since. |
Was checking my old scans, and the last time I came across that code was back in 2017. In my case, it was this variant of it:
01435 - Brake Pressure Sensor 1 (G201) 48-10 - Supply voltage - Intermittent Other than cleaning the ABS sensors at the time (probably around MOT time), I don't recall any other work I did on the car. I cleared the code, and thankfully haven't seen it since. Regarding the single yellow warning light, it was probably either the ABS or traction control light, as I use to get these at times due to a duff Bosch MAF sensor. |
