Rear legroom: D3 v. D2?
All,
Wondering how much more rear legroom there is in a D3 compared to a D2. The D2s don't have the best, which is surprising given the external dimensions of the car. I am tall, and my 5 and 2 year olds are already uncomfortable behind my seat in there child seats. And I am sick of them kicking the back of mine. If a D3 S8 isn't the solution, may need a W12 LWB... The last time I was in the back of a D3, I was twelve years old, seemed very spacious then but kiddy seats do take up a lot of room. I have one in my car now and again but it still lets me have the front seat in a comfortable driving position.. I'm 6ft.

I found the D2 space pretty decent and I'm 6'2. I do tend to run with the seat tilted to get the legroom.
D3 is pretty much the same unless you get an L model and then it's huge. |
The one I was in was an 'L' as it had that extra door pocket. I remember not wanting the 40 min journey to end :(

My D3 LWB is 5 inches longer than the standard length I think???? Doesn't sound much but it's HUGE in the back and makes masses of difference!
Wouldn't fancy the W12 mpg though, isn't the average something stupid like 15mpg??? |

I'm sure I'm reading that wrong; or maybe blokey humour is inappropriate now! :hammer:  |

Back to the rear legroom, :D and yes it makes a huge difference (especially when dismantling, there is way more space to move around in there!) but sadly the LWB aren't as popular second hand so they hold lower residuals, but makes them more of a bargain..... Welcome BTW, I would have said something on the introductions thread, but seeing as the queue on there got worse than the M42 around 8.30 on a Monday, thought I'd leave it for now, I'd just have got lost in all the traffic.... ;) |
LOL @ you lot-I have to admit I paused when writing that, but couldn't re-word that sentence if my life depended on it
Thanks for the welcome Ian, seems like you guys have a nice atmostphere on here, I feel all at home already +++ |
I'm still waiting for you to stick an S8 drivetrain into a D2 A8L for me...
Would like those leccy rear seats as well, but I suppose you've had to forego ISOFIX....shame. So, while I'm speccing, Ian, can you fix me up with: - 2002 A8L with S8 engine, transmission and suspension (mirrors, grille, badges to confuse people.) - Milltek exhaust - 20" FE rims - full extended leather (comfort seats for me, not the sports...) - glass roof - rear seat entertainment - RNS-E with bluetooth and digital telly - MFSW (I know, standard on the Ls) - oh, and preferably ebony black over the caramel that the US got but we don't. - oh and about 30k miles with regular transmission services having been performed from birth. I don't ask for much. Zip |
