Electrically adjustable steering column issue.
Hello my steering column has started acting up after i switched the ignition on and off quite quickly the steering wheel started moving when I turned the ignition off for the easy exit function but than when I instantly switched the ignition on again it stopped moving and will not move in or out now but still up and down same issue when using memory buttons moves fine up and down but no in and out I have replaced the control module but no difference next step I think will be lowering the entire column down and giving 12v directly to the adjustment motor. Has anyone encountered this issue or maybe have some input on possible source of the problem? Thanks in advance for the help :)

Usually its the switch when the column won't move in and out

If the switch stopped working wouldn’t the column still move when i press the memory buttons?

I've no personal experience of this problem but a while ago I read a thread similar on a US site. Unfortunately I can't remember which site.
They were saying that constant use of the easy entry / exit feature will eventually work harden the cables and cause a break. Especially so with the extend and retract circuit. I have mine turned off so as to avoid the possibility of this issue. |

Hi OP
did you ever get to the bottom of this? My steering column has stopped moving altogether - so no up/down or in/out, and it has been like that for a while. I checked the fuse for the steering column adjustment (I think it was a 25Amp), but it was fine. What is interesting is I don't recall the memory seats working either - I wonder if that is a pre-req? the seats do adjust electronically though when I adjust it using the buttons on the seat. thanks for any input. |
