Front Door Lever

Just went to get out of the car and the door partially opened and then stopped! I had to climb out of the passenger door. Went round and was able to open the door with the outside catch!!

So I'm guessing a rod has become disconnected behind the door trim?

The worst bit is I've just picked the car up from having tints done so I can't wind the window down and use the outside catch to get out!!!

Hmmm...

Read this post:

"The top two parts are so absolutely fundamental to your interior door handle mechanism that you dont want to even think about starting it you have misplaced one of these"

If you refit a door card and omit the silver clip, you would likely get the exact behaviour you describe....

I've not heard of anyone being able to tint A8 doors without removing the door cards, so its not really looking too difficult to put 2 and 2 together....

Thanks Ian

So either someone has removed the card and not used that clip or the clip has fallen off?

Is the front similar to the rear in terms of strip down/construction?

Yes, front doors are very similar.... +++

Same thing happened to me soon after i collected the car from the garage i bought it from - it had had a replacement motor for the electric window the day before. It's not too dificult to strip the door card off and reconnect.

Thanks for all your help. The metal clip holding the cable into the handle was missing and the plastic clip had fallen out. So I took off the rear passenger door to see how everything worked and "borrowed" the metal clip for the drivers door! I figured that was more important and at some point I will get a metal clip for the rear door.
