Electric rear blind
How do I get this to work on the A8? I have the parcel shelf in, and the switch ready to go in. Where do I get power/ground from? Have wired it up at the back.
Thanks +++ |
The Blind has 3 connections at the rear, +12 constant, ground and an activation wire that takes a +12 momentary contact that puts the blind up or down depending on where it is right now...
The +12 feed fromt he factory is fused from the drivers footwell fusebox, but could be taken from either the rear power distribution area above the battery or fed from the passenger footwell, fusing as appropriate. Ground again could come from the boot area easily, or there is a main ground junction point inside all the fabric tape bangages about 2 foot down from the parcel shelf on the drivers side wiring loom. Then you just need to take an ignition live, again fused, and feed it into the blinds switch, and take the output to the 3rd pin on the blinds. Not sure if that helps, but feel free to ask some more.... Post some piccies to make it easier for others in future ? +++ |
I'd like to resurrect this post please. Does anyone have any piccies of this? Lucky i have a prewired car so should just have to plug it in. But where will they be and what I’m I looking for?
I have taken my shelf out and there were 2 wires stuck to the underside, 1 going to the 3rd brake light and 1 going transversely across the car and stopping. I don’t have the shelf with the blind so don’t know what plugs i need. Oh and i’m an electrical retard. |
Drivers side, at the top of the rear seat back rest, when seats and parcel shelf are removed there will be a 2 pin black connector for the high level brake light, and a 3 pin connector for the blind. They will be together and pretty similar, thus easy to spot.....
The blind should just plug straight in...... |
Educated thank you +++
I'll take a few photies of it going back together as ripping it to bits i didn't even think about it, i was having far too much fun.:ROFL: |
