Audi OEM iPhone cradle suitable for D2?

Hi,

I just wanted to check if the Audi OEM cradle in the link below can be hooked up to my D2 Nav Plus?

eBay link

It says the following:

The phone cradle is suitable for use with all models fitted with GSM mobile phone preparation - Low (9ZF). The cradle is suitable for generation 2 and 3 phone cradle plates.

Do i have a G2/G3 phone prep phone?

Thanks,

Oli

Er, no... +++

You dont even have a generation 1 phone, which was the cullman kit that was fitted in the D2's in 2001/2002...

Sorry... :rolleyes:

Thanks Ian! - i knew you'd know!

Just out of curiosity, what were the phone options of the D2 and what is a 'Cullman' kit?

Thanks,

Oli

If it helps anyone who can use the iphone OEM Audi cradle that fits phone prep low - it DOES work with both the 3G and the 3GS as im using one in my B8 A4 Im now using a tom-tom iphone car kit with a brodit adaptor in my A8 so that its still mounted down by the centre console but the tom-tom kit gives you GPS boost, bluetooth and speaker with the one kit, albeit at an expensive £99 (plus the tom tom download onto the iphone) but at least i can now choose to either use the A8 sat nav or the tom tom one!

Architex, got any pictures of that? I'm currently trying to find some sort of iPhone integration for my A8. Does the bluetooth on the TomTom kit work properly with iPhone because I know it's a bit picky. If it's a nice cradle I might be able to get the link unit that's been featured here before to plug it into the Nav+

I'll take some and post for both cars carrotchomper - what would really be cool would be to be able to retrofit the phone prep low into the space under the armrests in the A8 so it also enables easy connection to the AV cables etc!!
I'll also try and post the links for the tomtom car kit and the brodit adapter that changes it from a suction mount to a surface mount to enable mounting to other brackets. The Brodit iphone adaptor was about £17 IIRC

They was only about 4/5 phones supported, all around the Nokia 6310 era. It is really is completely useless by todays standard. Cullman were the manufacturer of the hand ful of cradles that were available at the time, but they didnt take it very far forward before the generation 2 cradles came out 2004 onwards time I guess...

heres the pics i took for the a4 and a8 iphone cradles I have -

with the a4 its a brodit holder and mount on the dash for one iphone and the phone prep low under the central armrest with EITHER iphone holder OR SAP adaptor plugged into the socket (ive shown photos of each

With the A8 its a Brodit adaptor to the side of the centre console plus a brodit tom-tom adaptor plus the tom tom car kit itself as I dont like having the tomtom holder on a suction on the windscreen. The tomtom holder lets you view the phone in either portrait or landscape by turning it plus it boosts gps and charges the phone whilst giving you hands free bluetooth and speaker boost

Hope this helps!

Yes the bluetooth works fine on the tomtom kit with the iphone. I just got it because at least gives me more accurate sat nav than you get on nav plus and also it solves the bluetooth and gps signal boost all at once etc

Cheers for the pics! +++

Looks like an ideal setup. Do you have any links to the products I would need? Assume there is an adapter in there somewhere from the back of the Nav+? Got a bit confused with the multiple items ;)
