Dash lit up

Hi everyone
Hope we might have some ideas.
Went out to the car after work this evening, 3.0tdi 2008 a8, and when I started it up the abs light and esp light came one, the brake light went red and started flashing, and in the info dash brakes came up with a big red warning.
I popped around the corner and the local garage scanned it and it came up steering wheel angle sensor was fault. Would that cause all those lights to come up? I drove home and the car felt OK bar the flashing lights!
Could a faulty battery cause this because to me it sounds a bit tired when starting some times.

Thanks in advance.

no experience of D3s, but for sure a dying battery will throw up all sorts of errors

Steering angle sensor fault will give those lights on. Failing battery can give all sorts of weird things and usually multiple weird things. If the steering angle sensor is the only fault, it's probably sensor related fault not the battery. I say related because it does not mean the sensor itself is faulty, it could be wiring to the sensor or ABS ECU not seeing data from the sensor.

The steering angle sensor can fail. It happened on my D3. Fairly simple fix.

OK that's brilliant. Thank you will get one ordered up on Monday and go from there.

Double check it has failed before ordering a used one and stripping the dash by fault scanning with VCDS or OBD11. You can post the scan here if unsure. When you replace the steering angle sensor you have to go through Basic Settings procedure on the ABS, so you need access to VCDS ideally.

When mine failed I had this fault...

OK will do that... haven't access to vcds but the garage does seem to have the most up to date system for scanning.
A used one, are the very dear new?
