Intermitant indicator
 
I have indicator not working intermitant
When I put the right it does one click then goes left
Hazard works fine
I am looking for the location of the indicator relay
Any help would be appreciated

Unfortunately the indicators on the D3 do not have a relay. It's all integrated into the J527 module which is attached to the steering column.

The attached image shows how it's connected electrically. E2 is the indicator switch, which connects to the J527 module.

Instructions for the removal of J527 can be found on page 246 of the following PDF, located in the D3 Tech Dump thread.

If you have access to VCDS, a scan might show up an issue. You should also be able to run the output tests to see if the module can do them. If the module can't do a particular test e.g. left turn signal, then the module is the problem. If it can, then it might be the slip ring or the physical mechanism in the indicator lever.

First, ensure that a BMW indicator control unit hasn't been fitted.

Going to have a go at the weekend
Vcds indicators work fine every time
Have picked up another set of stalks
So will change them first
Will let you know how I get on

Was the stalks on my S5 - same behaviour but got worse over time
