We all love a compliment!

Anyone else had an unexpected compliment about their car?

Just had a Yodel delivery, it's usually the same chap, and he said:
"I love coming here because I get to see that S8. They don't make them like that any more; that's the generation when cars were at their best". +++

My regular DX man is always complimenting my S8 - less so the others, though the Coupe is most guaranteed to get compliments - when it's allowed out to play/be on show ;)...

My MOT guy always remarks how nice my car is but my son's Pheaton gets loads of admiration.

The MOT inspector complimented me on the car last year, after I did the suspension and brakes work, which is rare as they seldomly speak to you at all.

My Panda MOT'er said he couldn't bring himself to fail my 100HP for a broken (vandalised :-(...) passenger wing mirror, as "the rest of the car was so mint" ;) - and just encouraged me to get it fixed (which I have...)

That's how it should be, instead of failing a car for the most insignificant little thing.

I heard of one recently here that failed because one tyre 'looked' underinflated. I believe it was about 3-4psi lower than the others. I know it's for safety reasons, but why not just do what your tester did, pass the car and tell the driver to get it sorted ASAP.

A8L and S5

Event #1 - at a garage in Shirley, when I had my A8L. (reg. A8 LFO)
Guy comes out of the garage, garnered my attention with this rather short but beautiful statement, all whilst pointing firmly at the LWB "Now that's a proper car - LOVE it!"

Event #2 - at a local garage, in my current S5 (reg. S55 LFO)
Chap outdoes me by rolling up in an RS5 (B8.5) with number plate R55 XXX or something, in a similar number format to mine. I wasn't expecting him to pay my lowly S5 a compliment so I was surprised when he struck up a conversation and said what a lovely colour it was and loved the sportback style.

Cheers all.

Just picked up the S8 from the MoT garage. (Pass, no advisories+++ ) and the guy said "Lovely old bus [is that a compliment?], really clean car. The guys were all standing around admiring it. They dont make them like that anymore" .

They certainly dont - having just removed and replaced the Oil pressure sensor i have to agree. its hard to get to and needs a modified long reach 24mm socket manipulated with molegrips. I have the bloody knuckles to prove it.

Same issue here :-( so I sought advice from The Oracle (aka MJ ;)), who sent me the link for the replacement sensor and the 24mm socket.

All sorted after 30 minutes garage labour - so I'm (slightly...) poorer, but Herman's fixed, plus my knuckles are still intact +++

Stephen, is that worth adding to one of the D2 repair "stickies"?
