An RS 6 is definitely on the list, have been put off a bit with horror stories of the DRC failing, have you had any troubles with yours? I was thinking of swapping the Beemer for an RS 6 and using the cash left over to buy a TDI Golf/A4 to do most my miles in.

I'm running KW coilovers all round. Thankfully, the previous owner kindly undertook the expense of ripping out the Audi rubbish and replacing it. It wasn't the best job though, we bought the car with no MOT so drove it straight to the test station and discovered one the rear suspension bolts was loose, and by loose, I mean it was about half an inch out. Thats a lot of thread.... Tightened up no probs, but feel sad for the guy he probably thought it was terminal wobbly at the back end or something... He did sell it cheap... The adjustables are a victim of the their own flexibility. You can adjust the height, and damping, and this car was all over the job. The front end was nose high, so it wallowed and braking was, well, interesting... So, I took it down to Track Torque racing (http://www.tracktorque.co.uk/) who did a full 4 wheel laser allignment using some pretty sexy kit. Wish I'd taken photos now. They put reflectors on each wheel with the car on a dedicated, calibrated ramp, and rolled it backwards and forwards to determine how far out each wheel was. It was very impressive. A couple of hours later, and its absolutely sound. Level, firm, sorted. A different car altogether. I'd highly recommend them if you were in need some serious suspension workover. For the A8 owners out there wondering what on earth DRC is, its 'Dynamic Ride Control' and is an overly complex system fitted as standard to the RS6 that pumps hydraulic fluid between the shock absorbers to maintain composure round corners etc. By all accounts, its works well for the 10 mins before it starts leaking.... :p It has a reputation of leaking, and at £2000 a corner, most owners rip it out and put in traditional coil overs instead. Even our local Audi garage congratulated us on finding one with the DRC already ripped out - thats how bad it is  |
