60-100: s8 - woohoo. A8 - whahey

Max speed: both -'oh bejeesus'

they should all do that kind of top speed..

i'm fairly sure the parkers figure for the 2.8 can't be right............. if you check the first 2.8's (12 valve engine and a 4 speed auto) it mysteriously also does the same 9.9 to 60! I did a bit of interweb searching and....

'94 A8 2.8, 1460kg, 174bhp @ 5500rpm, 184 ft/lb torque, top speed 140mph 119.18 bhp/tonne

'98 A8 2.8, 1510kg, 190bhp @ 6000rpm, 207 ft/lb torque @ 3200 rpm, 0-100km/h 8.4 sec, 147 mph, 125.83 bhp/tonne

The figures I found seemed more realistic though they could be just as not accurate (the 0-60 is simliar to the 3.7!!!!)! The fact the online resource clearly listed the 2 different engines seemed more sensible! I
didn't bother looking up any other versions, i was curious about mine when i got it last year knowing the widely available figures must be tosh....

I reckon 6.4 seconds is slow especially nowadays or do you disagree? Im sure some websites say its 5.8 seconds, has anyone ever tried it and got a figure for themselves? 6.4 seconds now thats not much quicker than some turbo diesels out there today!:(

A manual S8 40v would hit 60 in 6secs or less. Not a hope of that with the auto.

last year at bruntingthorpe i was timed at 6.39 sec. dont know what it was this year. i know it can be timed with vag-com
