Retrofit RNS-D to Pre-facelift

First of all, I would like to know if this is reasonabley possible, and what parts and work is required. I'm asking for RNS-D because I get the feeling they are a bit cheaper, easier to come by and less hassle to install.

Ideally I would TV + GPS, as the current stock CD changer will only work with pressed CD's and not burnt ones. I am trying to keep the stock look and retain the Bose element if possible whilst getting some more toys!

Thanks

Hi buddy, you will need a new centre dash fascia. Very rare to get one for the pre facelift and Audi don't sell them anymore. I think your best bet would be to go for a full facelift centre dash conversion, it has been done. Not sure how easy it is though. You will need a new cage, wood, climate control unit and blinds buttons etc...

TBH it doesnt matter whether you're fitting an RNS-D, or an RNS-E... The problem is still getting a facia to fit properly. The facelift facias arent too hard to come by, but the climate module changed, and its quite a straight swop from preface climate to post facelift.

I had a Preface car running an RNS-E, facelift dash, facelift cluster, facelift climate etc, but there was quite a lot of work went into it to retrofit the relevant canbus's that are required for the facelift climate module.

If you can get an RNS-x physically in place with your existing PF climate module, and can make it look good, then the rest of the wiring is a doddle.

This is all useful information, so thanks. But If it's too much work I don't think I can be bothered! Is there another Audi headunit I can get that will reatain the Bose and increase inputs or allow for a newer more compatible CD changer?
