Best place to buy catalytic converters
 

As above really, my 2002 s8 needs a drivers side cat. Audi want £700+ and probably a couple of my limbs on top of that.

You can get some sports cats for less then half that I'm sure. A8_Tony did this...

The only place's I have found have been:
Audi - £770
Hoffman cats - circa £450 for an A8 4.2
Some eBay company do a pattern one for circa £350 but it looks pretty poor.

A8 parts don't have any, eurocarparts and gsf don't do them, and all German don't do cats.

Are the 3 places above really the only places to get cats? :( this isn't looking good. Do A8 4.2 cats of the same era fit an S8?

It appears something in early 2001 happened and changed the standards for cats or something. will a 2001 cat fit my 2002 car?

1st March 2001 is the cross overpoint where car tax discs became charged on Co2 emissions, not just cubic capacity. I imagine the earlier one isnt up to spec and it doesnt matter, where the later one has to be.. ?

Interestingly, around that time Audi starting shipping the AVP engine code in the S8 rather than the AQH....

Get hold of any post 4.2 Litre cat from an Audi and get it welded in?

If it runs on LPG though remove both cats.... It will pass the MOT no problem on gas :)
