Help wiring TV tuner for ipod

Hi, I have had some questions about this before but was a little phased by the electrics, so whilst car was booked in a local garage for the cam belt change asked them to connect the TV tuner and route the wiring into the arm rest where the phone is.

Sounds simple eh.........nope, they had no clue without pulling the car apart (which I asked them not to do @£75 per hour). So has anyone got a 'how to' on this?

The details are - have RNS-D (navplus) but no TV tuner as std so have one I got from A8 parts. Do have the 6cd changer though and phone in the cradle etc.

So I need to know how to a) connect TV tuner, b) connect Ipod to TV tuner and route connections to arm rest? (plus a clue how to turn the 'in motion' button off and get a digital feed would be considered very much the icing on the cake for me!!)...................car is going back in on Friday (another tread question!!! as I have another 'issue' to sort with it so was hoping to get them to do it then if I could give them a clue!)

As always thanks in advance for any help anyone can give!:o

Fitting the TV tuner isn't overly hard, connector into the back of the Sat Nav, Connector into the Tv tuner and a bit of power / canbus depending on which version of tuner you purchased.

The front passenger seat needs removing (4 bolts) and the rear seats need removing (4 cross head screws, 2 x 10mm bolts and 4 extra bolts if you have isofix)

The battery will need to be disconnected before you start, or you will need access to vagcom or similar to reset the airbag light which will come on when the seats are disconnected.

Once the seats are out, its easy-ish to route the cables from the boot through to the head unit, and to run some extra cables for the ipod connection to the armrest......

TV in motion is simple enough to do when everything else is done and dusted, and digital is a whole different ball game as you will need to think about aerials as well as fitting a 3rd party digital tuner. If your car didnt have factory TV, then it will have a twin-pane rear screen making TV reception very poor through the glass....

If youve ever fitted a head unit / cd changer before or done similar work, its pretty easy - If you're not confident with the wires / trims it might be a job for someone else....

You could also install a Dension Gateway 300 or 100, depending if you want USB compatibility or not. I did a write up on the A8OC site for a pre facelift iPod install controllable from the head unit.... would only be a different wiring adaptor for your facelift 8, and easier to control than the pf too.....
