Shopping list for 2001 S8 Part III

Yet another request for advice & part numbers please?

While I am doing all of the other work to my car I would also like to take this opportunity to drop the autobox sump and replace filters, clean magnets and whatever else wants doing as a brand new box was fitted @45k miles ago as well as replacing a leaking output shaft seal that is leaking fluid onto the left hand cat so I need to take these into account as well.

Gearbox filter(s)
Gearbox sump gasket
Output shaft seal
Audi Transmission fluid
Fluid for final drive after replacing leaking seal
Any other items, seals/gaskets, bolts etc. etc...

Also since the new box was fitted and after driving @30 miles or so the speedometer starts to 'hunt' and makes the cruise control unusable because it is always surging to try and maintain what it thinks is the correct speed.

I am guessing it could be the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) and if so is this easy to replace?

And once again might some kind soul have the part number for this please?

I am wondering whether it might work out cheaper to buy another car but then aagain I know the history of this one as I have owned it for the last 4 years and I could buy another one that might need a similar amount of money spent on it!

Thanks & kind regards,
-=Glyn=-

Soooooo throwing gauntlets around are we?

4D0927803D for speed sensor from the ABS system front
0589052161B hall sender (cam position indicator)

Only 2 sensors I can think of on the engine. There is one on the transmission called the distance sensor it's 01F409191 and it reads the flywheel so that may give speed as well.

:p

Well I was but now wishing I hadn't...;)

Many thanks for the info...strangely this speed issue only occurred when the gearbox was changed so I assumed there must be a VSS in/on there somewhere like my old Cosworth Scorpio?

More investigation on my part methinks...

Many thanks again Mike...I have already had the price list back and a few items appear to be marked as Forward SSES and one item (Serpentine Belt;- b07793137Q from another thread) marked Not Found but I should know more by tomorrow.

Thanks & kind regards,

I'll give it a try Mike...thanks.

Forward SSES just means the part has a Forward Succession part number ie. the original part number has been superceded with a new one for some reason.

See attached screenshot...price blanked for obvious reasons!

Not sure why the supercede appears to be one or two revisions below the original in this case but hey-ho...

All I need now is a part number for the dual relay base that the MFSW Control Module plugs into...well along with battery, pollen filter & fuel filter of course!

No Mike...get some sleep!

Kind regards,
-=Glyn=-
