What torque should be used on the Valve cover bolts?
 

I am just changing the gaskets on my valve covers. Depending on what source I look at there are several different torques quoted for fastening up the bolts. My Audi workshop CD says 10Nm but some of the Audi tech articles on this site and others quote 18 ft/Lb. By my maths these are not the same.

Can anyone confirm what figure they have used?

Based on it being an M5 bolt into aluminium I would say 10 - 15 Nm is about correct. My ELSA win is FuBar atm so I can't check for certain.

Thanks, I had come to that decision -I can always tighten up. Hard to go back!
