Learning to drive the Beast

Linking to a write up I did on Tyresmoke.

As this by far the most powerful OEM car I have owned I thought I would get some tuition of road driving and track use.

My day out with Powertrain is here.

My day out with Prodrive is here.

I agree with you Mike - any time spent driver training is well worth it -
A few years ago I went on a Skid Pan training day at Castle Combe and they made sure they covered all types of cars and all situations in the training and that everyone on the course had "got" each stage before they moved on.
I was driving a Merc E55 AMG a couple of months later and a deer walked out in front of me on the road I was driving - the training they had engrained into me cut in and I drove my way around the frozen deer and avoided a large accident involving car and animal. My passenger was speechless and asked how the heck I had managed to avoid it, and I couldnt really answer other than to say the training came back to me. So whether it is skid pan training, advanced driver training, race car training or whatever, just do it - its great fun and one day it might save you a lot more! +++

Back in MS days I got to compete the Audi Driver Experience course - 2.5 days around Brands covering control, high speed, low speed, even escape when it turns upside down in a river! Very useful and entertaining at the same time. (and you get a shiny certificate t'boot)
