Help - emergency!
I can't unlock the car!
2002 S8. Wouldn't lock with the remote so locked it with the key. I can open the boot with the key, but not the doors. If I put the key in the door and turn it, you can hear a motor going in the boot, but the doors stay locked. And I'm stuck in Stranraer! Any ideas? |
Can't unlock the car - Help!
2002 S8. Wouldn't lock with remote so locked it with the key. Key will open the boot but not the doors. You can hear a motor whir when you turn the key in the door, but nothing happens

Have you tried to turn the key in the unlock postion and hold it for 5+ seconds? That should trigger all the windows to open..(comfort opening)
:) |
Nothing happens when I try that

Do you have a second remote?
Oh just read you are in stranraer , maybe your batteries have failed ,I have a spare set of beteries you can try . I am willing to run down with them if you want |
I'm waiting for a breakdown man - I've got insurance so may as well see what he can do. Did a hunt around other posts and one with identical symptoms suggested that I disconnect the battery for 10 minutes and then reconnect. Hard to understand why I can open the boot and nothing else?
Too far to come down with batteries. Thanks for the offer though! |
Handbook says you can resync the remote if you press the unlock button on the remote then open the car with the key within 1 min ,it does not say which lock has to be used ,not sure if it will work with the boot one.
You can always try. |
I'll give it a go - thanks

Is there a lock on passenger side?
I guess you have vacuum leak or failed vacuum pump that's why you hear motor going but it does not unlock. And key does not open because mechanical link has come detached. You should be able to open it with inside handles if you get in car, maybe a small kid through ski hatch in boot or breakdown man can push window down by inflatable pillow and use a hook through the gap to open it from inside. |
Nope - still locked and still no breakdown guy! :(
