D2 Polished To Mirror Finish?
 

I remember Audi had a polished D2 as the ASF Concept Car, before mass production began. I also remember there was a polished A8 4,2 Quattro, ordered by the Sultaan of Brunei.

Has anyone ever successfully polished any random spare panels - fender, hood to a bright finish? If so, how did it look? How did it hold up over time? Would it need a protective lacquer layer? Thanks!
